First Post

This is my first ever blog post....

The big news is that October 24 is my last day of work at the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Carlsbad. I am curently trying to purge all unnecessary/easily replaceable stuff in preparation for a big journey which will take me to Hawaii and Australia on my way to Papua New Guinea to work on biodiversity mapping as part of a sustainable forestry initiative in the Waria Valley. I'm not sure exactly when I will be back but I will be working in PNG till the end of April 2009 baring any unforseen circumstances. I hope to post often but I won't have very good access from Papua New Guinea. In the mean time I will be posting about recent and upcoming travel with pictures, so please subscribe to this blog if you want to read all that stuff. For those of you who are not blog savy (I am among you), I guess that a subscription causes an email to be sent to you letting you know there is a new posting everytime I make one. Don't worry, I will not be pestulantly frequent with my postings.
